Wood Trades Expo 2016

The Library is celebrating the talented apprentices from the Cabinetmaking and Carpentry programs.

Hand crafted furniture and wood projects built by these students will be display in the library from Monday, October 31 to Friday, November 18.

SAIT's Wood Trade apprentices work in many areas of construction, including residential, commercial and industrial construction.

Carpenters are involved in reading blueprints, selecting materials and methods of work, measuring, cutting and joining materials. They can also specialize in one type of work such as framing, bench work or finishing carpentry.

Cabinetmakers produce custom-made wood products and learn how to build and repair wood components, furniture, fixtures, and cabinetry.

Please stop by and take a look at this exceptional display.

Recommended Reading for Halloween

Happy Halloween!!

With less than a week to go until Halloween, we thought it would be fun to share with you a few of our favourite scary fiction and graphic novels:

Afterlife with Archie : Escape from Riverdale / Story byRoberto Aguirre-Sacasa
All hell breaks loose when a fateful accident sets in motion a series of terrifying events that will threaten the town of Riverdale like never before! When the dead begin to rise, craving human flesh, it's up to Archie, Betty & Veronica, and the Gang to fight for their lives against the zombie hordes led by their former pal, Jughead.

The Walking Dead. Volume 23, Whispers Into Screams /  By Robert Kirkman

A new threat has emerged from within the walker hordes, catching the communities off guard. The time for peace and prosperity is over as a new fight for survival begins.
The now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of
The Shining) must save a very special twelve-year-old girl
from a tribe of murderous paranormals.

The Graveyard Book / By Neil Gaiman

Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place, he's the only living resident of a graveyard. Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and dead?

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies / by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith

Jane Austin’s classic tale of love, wealth, deceit, family and marriage. With zombies. Lots and lots of zombies. Need we say more?

Celebrating Trojan Athletes!

The Library and Trojan Athletics and Recreation department have teamed up and collaborated on a pictorial display which highlights the tremendous athleticism of our Trojan sport teams.

Team sports are the heart of most school athletic programs and these images illustrate how physically fit and strong our Trojan warriors are.

From October 5th to November 28th, photographs of some of our best student athletes will be on display in Library.

Feel free to stop by and see this outstanding exhibition!
We also wanted to congratulate the staff from Athletics and Recreation because they were honoured at the Lieutenant Governor's Circle on Mental Health and Addiction True Awards ceremony on October 5th in Edmonton. To learn more, about this, go to SAITNOW
