Did you know...

In 2003, the Reg Erhardt Library received its one millionth visitor?

A mere 2 years after opening in the Stan Grad Building (formerly known as the Heart Building), the millionth visitor to the SAIT Library passed through the gates on November 22, 2003. As a special gift, the lucky Environmental Technologies student received a Bookstore gift card from the library and their picture in the Weal in celebration of the event. Having opened August 1st, 2001 in the newly developed Heart Building, the SAIT Library had formerly been located in the Senator Burns Building.

Twelve years later, the library continues to be the central hub on campus for students wishing to study, do group work, and enjoy activities such as the Photojournalism Exhibit and ESL Conversation Club, with visits totaling nearly half a million patrons this year alone.

Avoiding Plagiarism

Plagiarism is a big deal and it is not something you want to find out about the hard way. We can help you cite the resources that you use for your research projects and presentations properly.

Plagiarism occurs when someone:
  • presents the words, ideas, images or data of another person as their own without reference to the original author or original source.
  • presents work done for another course or program at SAIT or elsewhere without the instructor’s knowledge or prior approval.
Citation indicates that a particular idea, concept or statement used in your assignment originated from another person or source. It also provides:
  • the reader with an opportunity to identify and find the sources used in your writing
  • the reader with additional resources for their own interest and research
It is very important to properly cite resources that you use in your writing and research for SAIT assignments and avoid plagiarism.

The Library also has these citation style guides:

Before you begin your assignment, remember to verify the preferred citation style and edition with your instructor.
