Did you know...

Electrics student Jim Ainslie designed and built a wooden SAIT horse as part of the Canadian centennial celebrations in the mid 1960's?

Coinciding with the fiftieth year of operations at SAIT, celebration of the Canadian centennial was an important theme throughout the 1966-1967 school year at the institute. As a part of these celebrations, Jim Ainslie along with several classmates from the Electrics department designed and put together a small wooden horse in honor of the anniversary.  Described in the 1967 yearbook as having finally provided SAIT with a mascot after half a century, the carefully constructed wooden horse reportedly took seventy-five hours to complete; consisting of fifteen separate pieces of wood a single nail.
