Did you know...

Nearly 35 years ago staff at Sait were already discussing the possibility of an on-demand service to provide video lessons to students at their leisure?

In 1978, former Sait president Reg Erhardt once commented on the idea of having a video service available for students which allowed users to place a call to an operator at the school and request that a particular instructional video be played on a nearby television set for them. Though work on introducing this particular service design has long since been set aside, developments in computer networking, as well as the introduction of streaming video has since made this dream of an on-demand video service a reality. With services like Films on Demand now available to students at nearly any location and time, the early concept discussed nearly 35 years ago has since become a very real option for students looking to find information while studying.

Interested in learning more about Sait’s past or exploring the many on-demand video resources available through the library? Contact the Sait Archives to learn more, or visit the Reg Erhardt Library video resources to explore our collections.
