How Does Your Garden Grow?

Do you have to pardon your garden? Calgary has such a fickle climate. Gardening is a wonderful way to pass the time away but it can be a little challenging.
Here is a list of some of the books that might help your garden grow a little better:

Did you know...

In the early 20th century, the original Sait campus was briefly utilized as an emergency hospital during the Great Influenza Epidemic of 1918?

Just one week after the Calgary Board of Health issued an order closing numerous businesses, churches, and schools throughout the city, the Alberta Provincial Department of Health officially seized control of the Sait campus for use of it as a short term hospital.  Located at the Colonel Walker School in southeast Calgary, the campus was quickly transformed into an emergency medical facility to help combat the deadly influenza epidemic spreading throughout the world at the time.  Though this would have a significant impact on the activities of the school at the time, students and staff at Sait were ultimately quite fortunate, however, and the disruption lasted only a month, with control of the school being returned on November 25th, 1918.

To learn more about the history of Sait, please contact the Sait Archives, or feel free to browse our online collections.
