Did you know

Heritage Hall is both a provincial historic resource as well as a national historic site?

Opened in 1922 alongside the original power plant and shops facilities, Heritage Hall is one of the oldest and most recognizable buildings on the Sait campus. Built in the Collegiate Gothic style, this iconic sandstone and red brick structure, originally known only as the Main Building, has existed as the central point on the Sait campus for nearly a century. In recognition of it's continuous service over the past 90 years to not only the institute, but organizations such as the Calgary Normal School and the RCAF No. 2 Wireless School, the building was named a provincial historic resource by the Government of Alberta in 1985. Four years later the structure was again recognized in 1989 as a national historic site by the Government of Canada. Restored in 2000 as a part of an ongoing campus renewal and expansion project, Heritage Hall continues to be a central part of the Sait campus and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
To find out more about this, and many other important structures on the Sait campus, please contact the Sait Archives or view our online collections.
