Looking for a job?

The Library has some great resources to help you.

Our catalogue is a good place to begin. Try using simple keywords like:

  • job hunting

  • job interviews

  • resumes

  • resume employment

  • cover letters

  • Check the “Careers” section of the various newspapers that the Library subscribes to.

For full text and in-depth articles we recommend the following databases:

  • ABI/Inform

  • Business Source Complete

  • Canadian NewsStand

  • Business and Company Resource Centre

  • Put your search term in quotation marks for best results. If you need to narrow your search results, look the “date range” or “full text” options.

Our streaming videos let you watch a complete video, a segment of one or find another related video or video clip. You can use the same keywords to search for videos or dvds.

    Internet Web Sites
When searching the Internet, remember to put the search term in quotation marks. If you need to refine your search, try using terms like:

  • online job search

  • work at home

  • include a specific salary bracket

  • You can also make the Internet to work for you by uploading your resume and cover letter so potential employers can find you when they are looking for someone with your particular skills.

Remember that the Internet is a two way street. Just as you might use Google to find out about a potential employer, your employer can check you out as well. If you are using any social networks such as Facebook or Youtube, be careful to check what has been posted about you.

Some Internet web sites that might be useful are:

  • SAIT Student Employment Services

  • City of Calgary Summer Student Jobs

  • Workopolis

  • Federal Student Work Experience Program

  • Job Futures: Labour Market Information Resource

  • Canada Summer Jobs 2012

  • Happy Job Hunting!
