Canada Post Celebrates John Ware!

The Calgary Herald (February 2, 2012) published an article about Canada Post recognizing John Ware.

http://search.proquest.com/docview/919885626/134C3B603194220ED6E/1?accountid=13652

Canada Post is acknowledging the contributions that pioneer rancher, John Ware, made to our Canadian heritage with commemorative stamp.

February is Black History Month in Canada and this stamp has been issued as part of this celebration. It also coincides with the Calgary Stampede’s 100th Anniversary this year. Although John Ware died in 1905, before the Calgary Stampede was established, he competed as a steer wrestler in 1893 and helped create many of the rodeo maneuvers that became a fundamental part of the Calgary Stampede. His accomplishments as a cowboy and rancher are an important part in our history on a local, provincial and national level.

Here at SAIT, our John Ware building is currently home to:

4 Nines Dining Centre
Food Services Main Office
Highwood Dining Room
The Market Place
School of Hospitality and Tourism, Main Office

It is wonderful to see John Ware receive this distinguished honour.
